Angelina Jolie's "trash bag" dress at the Maleficent world premiere in LA

It was no surprise that Angelina Jolie picked a black red carpet look for the world premiere of Maleficent that took place in Los Angeles. As she wore a rubber silk Armani Prive gown, the comments about the trash bag started to come. What people don't get is that the actress tried, and certainly succeeded, to match her red carpet premiere looks with the character she plays in the Disney movie. And she totally rocked it. The dramatic strapless dress worked perfectly with the a spiked earring and the cuffs.

Inside Jean Paul Gaultier's latest fashion exhibitions: A tribute to the famous French designer

Dear readers, we are extremely honored to introduce you a fresh face of our team and a new contributor to No Name Fashion Magazine. Valeria Duca is currently finishing her A levels in Art, History, Philosophy & Ethics at the Truro School in UK. She is interested in fashion as a manifestation of art and she is looking forward to continue her studies, taking a degree in History of Art at St. Andrews University. As she loves painting, Valeria has already organized 13 personal exhibitions across Europe. Still, her biggest achievement was being part of the 54th edition of Venice Biennale in 2011.

The last month of spring brings to the attention of the common art consumer of London, and to a rather fervent international art consumer the two exhibitions dedicated to the creation of the famous fashion designer – Jean Paul Gautier. Barbican Center, the largest performing arts center of the entire Europe, has the honor to present the exhibition entitled “The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk” (9 April – 25Aug). The second, but not least important, is the display in premiere of the couturier’s graphic design work presented by the Fashion Space Gallery in the exhibition “Jean Paul Gaultier: Be My Guest” (11 April – 26 June).

The personality of Jean Paul Gaultier, known for his reputation of “enfant terrible”, continues to be a phenomenon of non-conformity and imagination. We can all remember his crazy busy outfits rich in color and texture, his odd support for men skirts and his unconventional fat/old models. May his distinguish identity be a consequence of him not graduating any rigid fashion schools or a product of nature, we can only suppose; the fact is that Jean Paul Gaultier was and continues to be a shock for the fashion world.

“From the Sidewalk to Catwalk” will confirm it in offering not solely an introduction, but a complete overview of his creation. To give you a taste of exponents’ diversity, it is useful to know that iconic pieces such as Madonna’s conical bras are displayed, but also products of collaboration with artists like the prominent Andy Warhol.

On the other side, “Be My Guest” would be expected to amaze you if you take into consideration the fact the Jean Paul Gaultier’s initial sketches impressed Jean Platou and Pierre Cardin in the early 70s. Iconic advertizing campaigns, invitations to haute couture and pret-a-porte shows will give you a feeling that you’ve been then and there at his unique fashion presentations that made history.

If you are in London by any chance, don't miss the exhibitions!
